FAQs

  • What is the process to fill the Cold Plunge Tub -Before filling, make sure the Plugs and Caps are securely in place on the Tub’s Inlet and Outlet, or that the Hoses are tightly connected to both the Cold Plunge Tub and the Chiller to avoid leaks. Ensure the Drain is closed or the Drain Cap is properly attached. Place a garden hose in the tub and turn on the water. Fill the tub until it’s about ⅔ to ¾ full. If a Chiller is connected, continue filling until the Water Inlet on the tub wall is fully submerged.
  • Is it easy to drain the Cold Plunge Tub? -To drain the Cold Plunge Tub, unscrew the Drain Cap to let the water flow out freely. If you’d like to connect a standard garden hose to the Drain Fittings, you’ll need a Drain Adapter—available upon request from DCT.*Note: First-generation Barrels and Cuboids feature a "Pop-up Plug" on the tub floor. With the Drain Fitting open, simply press the Pop-up Plug to release the water.
  • How can I change the Filter on the Chiller? - Use the Plugs that came with the Cold Plunge Tub to close the Inlet and Outlet post on the Cold Plunge Tub. Using the provided Filter Wrench, turn the Filter Cup counter-clockwise until the Filter Cup detaches from the Chiller (from a bird’s eye view the Filter Cup will need to be turned clockwise for removal). Some water will spill, but no more than the residual amount inside the Hoses and Chiller. Discard the old Filter and place a fresh Filter in the Filter Cup before refastening to the Chiller.
  • How often does the water need to be replaced? -We recommend replacing the water frequently to ensure clean, safe, and sanitary water is being used in the Cold Plunge. Water requirements will vary depending on use, ranging from 1-2 times per week for intensive users, or as little as every 2-4 weeks in lighter use applications or with stringent water maintenance schedules.
  • Can I use chemicals to treat the water? - While chemicals like chlorine can be used to sanitize the water, we recommend using them sparingly, as this is a health and wellness product. If you choose to use chemicals, it's important to regularly test and monitor the water to maintain proper pH balance, alkalinity, water hardness, and safe chemical levels. Please note: Bromine is highly corrosive to the materials used in the Cold Plunge Tubs and Chillers, and we do not recommend it for water treatment.
  • How long are the Hoses? - You'll receive two 8 foot long hoses with Dynamic Chillers.
  • What size are the Cold Plunge and Chiller Fittings? - The Chillers, Barrel Cold Plunge, and Cuboid Cold Plunge all use ½” threaded NPT fittings, while the Inflatable Cold Plunge Tubs feature 1” ID fittings and include custom adapters for connecting to the Chiller.
  • Can I use longer Hoses with my Cold Plunge system? - Yes, but there are potential drawbacks. Longer hoses increase the distance water must travel between the Cold Plunge Tub and the Chiller, which can lead to more heat absorption and greater friction inside the hose, reducing the Chiller’s cooling efficiency. The exact impact is difficult to measure due to many variables. Additionally, hoses will collect condensation during cooling, and longer runs will produce more moisture to manage.
  • Can I install the Chiller in a utility closet or above the Cold Plunge Tub out of the way? - Chiller placement requires three key considerations: it must have proper ventilation to cool the water effectively—recirculating its own hot exhaust air will reduce performance; placing the Chiller above or below the Cold Plunge Tub’s level forces the pump to work against gravity, which can reduce the system’s lifespan; and condensation from both the Chiller and Hoses will drip onto the surrounding floor, so moisture management is important.
  • What are the electrical requirements for the Chiller? - All of our Chiller models operate on a standard 120V/15AMP outlet. Whenever possible, we recommend using a dedicated 15AMP outlet or circuit breaker, and because the product involves water, a GFCI outlet is strongly advised.
  • Is the cold plunge system suitable to be used outdoors? - The Chillers are rated for outdoor use but are not fully weather-proof. They can handle light water exposure, such as drips from a user’s hand when adjusting settings, but should not be exposed to heavy rain or direct sunlight. Direct sun can cause the Ambient Temperature Sensor to register excessively high temperatures, potentially rendering the unit inoperable. The Cold Plunge Tubs are suitable for outdoor use, though Barrel Cold Plunge users may want to stain the wood staves to enhance durability and protect against the elements.
  • What is the Warranty period? - All Dynamic Cold Therapy products carry a 1-year Limited Warranty from the date of purchase and is non-transferrable.
  • How often does the water need to be replaced? - Water maintenance schedules will vary based on factors like frequency of use, local water quality, and environmental conditions. Since this is a health and wellness product, we recommend replacing the water regularly rather than relying solely on chemical treatments for sanitation. In general, we suggest changing the water at least once a week, though heavy-use customers may need to do so more often, while those with lighter use and good maintenance may go longer. As a rule of thumb, if the water appears cloudy or discolored, it’s a clear sign that it should be replaced.
  • How often does the Filter need to be replaced? - Water maintenance schedules depend on factors like frequency of use, local water quality, and environmental conditions. In heavy-use Cold Plunge setups, filters may need replacing once or twice a week, while in well-maintained, lighter-use setups, they can last 2–3 weeks. As a general rule, if the filter appears discolored or worn, it likely needs to be replaced. A reduced flow rate below 16L/min or increased noise from the Chiller are also signs that the filter should be changed.
  • What does the Ozone feature do? - The Ozonator helps keep the water clean by killing bacteria and activates approximately every 15 minutes unless turned off. The Basic and Premier models allow you to adjust the Ozone intervals, while the Standard model only offers an on/off option. While helpful, the Ozone feature is not a complete substitute for other essential water maintenance practices.
  • How loud is the Chiller? - Our Chillers operate at a noise level of approximately 60–65 dB, though the unit may sound louder when the Ozone function is actively running.
  • Can I use the Cold Plunge in the winter? - The Chillers are rated for a working temperature range of 34°F to 113°F and are not designed for use in sub-freezing conditions. Any damage caused by freezing is not covered under warranty.
